Disaster Averted - Somewhat!

Today's SCS Color Challenge 229 was perfect for this new image from Happy Birthday by Our Daily Bread designs. This set and another (come back Saturday to see that one!) will be available August 1 from ODBD.

So I haven't stamped in several days and knew today's challenge was just what I needed! I stamped the water can and flowers in VersaFine Onyx Black ink, and set to using reinkers and an aqua brush to paint my image. I loved the result and the colors look so end-of-the-summer-ish.

I got out my trusty Nestabilities to cut and emboss, and this is what happened:

I was NOT happy! So I left it alone and went and took a shower, played Farm Town on Facebook for awhile (Won't You Be My Neighbor?) and then came back to it to see what I could do. I tell you, by the time I got it figured out I could have painted another one. But I didn't want it to go to waste, and figured since I had mixed some of the colors, I wouldn't get it the same.

So -- now you know why there are three little Primas there, and why the edge is cut off. I hope that you will use your mistakes to your best advantage too! You can still see a bit of the embossing on the side, but I think it works!

Be sure to come back on Saturday to see both of the new August releases and hear some FUN news too!!
Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Oh Judy - I've had that too, but luckily only before stamping, not after. I'd never have realised that this was a rescue job it you hadn't set - it's more than somewhat.
DH loved the Guernsey Literary Society, he's already finished it in spite of having had a friend staying all weekend. Thanks again for introducing us to it.
