A Little Sparkle N Sprinkle Shimmer!

I love patriotic cards.  I am not especially political or anything, but the good old red/white/blue makes me feel good. So today I want to share something from Sparkle N Sprinkle's Patriotic Icons set. It has a lot of neat sentiments and three images that surely represent the USA.
I stamped my eagle in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then watercolored using dye inks and an aqua brush. The star behind the eagle was stamped with VersaMark pigment ink, then embossed with Americana EP. I love this embossing powder with its red/white/blue and glittery mixture!
The sentiment is stamped with Night of Navy ink, and cut out using a Spellbinders Scalloped Circle die. I then attached it to a tag with a chipboard button and a real one. I ran my designer paper through my Cuttlebug using the Houndstooth embossing folder. Click on the pic for a close-up of that. It made it look a little more like a patchwork quilt, which is what I was going for. Some crazy sewing, a little distress sponging on the edges, and all done!

Right now, until July 4, you can order a fabulous Patriotic Bundle from Sparkle N Sprinkle. It includes two sets and all sorts of cool embossing powders and glitters to make beautiful patriotic cards!

Mark your calendars for the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog Hop coming up in July - it is sure to cool you off from the winter heat - that is, if you have it! It's a great 72 degrees here today. Perfect!

Oh, I have been having some PC trouble, so have been using my MacBook (which I LOVE) lately. Can anyone tell me how to apply a watermark using Mac? I don't have Photoshop or anything like that - just the stuff that comes with the computer. I am used to using PSE7 and MS Publisher on my PC, but have no clue how to do it on a Mac! Thanks!

Thanks for stopping by! Leave a comment and tell me what you think, and then I can visit you too!

Challenges for this card:
Freshly Brewed - inspired by a song ("God Bless the USA")
Paper Shelter - punches and dies
Use Ut Tuesdays - unused punch/die (star die)
House of Gilli - buttons
Stamps And Fun = Creativity - holidays (Independence Day)

  2. Can't help with the Mac question, sorry :( Love the card though! The star behind the eagle is great and the stitching adds a nice bit of texture :)

  3. Hi, Judy! Have to confess I get your blog updates through my email and love seeing your creations, but am quite bad about popping in to leave comments! This patchwork patriotic beauty caught my eye PLUS I wanted to thank you for your kind comments on my DD status! Congrats on being the #1 guesser on Cathleen's thread - lol! BTW, I LOVE my Mac and I use GIMP to both edit my pics and add my watermarks. It's a free download and I was on my own as far as figuring things out, but it was pretty easy to use. I had never used Photoshop or any other app before, so if I could figure it out...you can, too.
