Glitter Embossing

A month from today Christmas will be over. Wow. Time fleets so quickly - make sure you are doing things each day that you LOVE! And I LOVE to stamp!

Today's Splitcoaststampers Technique Challenge I am hosting is all about sparkle! It's called "Glittery Embossing" and basically puts glitter glue on your dry embossed cardstock.  See details and instructions on how to do this HERE.

My sample is made using Hambo Stamps' adorable Snowmen (0316) and Let It Snow (1518) images.
I stamped on Georgia Pacific White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and then colored in a little using Copic markers. I added Diamond Stickles to the sky for snowflakes. The sentiment is stamped with Baja Breeze (Stampin' Up!) ink and both were then cut out with Spellbinders Circle dies.

I hope you will check out the challenge and play along!

Washi Wishes!

I am feeling a little wishy-washy today! What to do next?! The Christmas card letter? The Christmas decorations around the house? The tree? Hmmm......wishy-washy......how about some Washi Wishes??  See how crazy I am today? :)

I only have a very few rolls of washi tape, but they sure make for fun and fast cards. Here is a little card I made using the new Penguin dies at The {Stamps} of Life:
I used three different tape designs and just left the torn edge on the side. Then I stamped my sentiment from morepenguinstolove (TSOL) in Stephanie's Licorice ink. On a separate piece of white cardstock, I stamped the little penguin in Licorice and then cut him out using the small penguin die.

Cute and simple!  Now to decide what to do next...... maybe I will make breakfast and think about it. :)

Ric Rac Flowers - and a Tutorial!

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to all U.S. ribbon lovers! I hope you are enjoying time with friends and family today! If you have time for some crafting, maybe you can try this easy ric rac flower!

Step 1: Cut your ric rac in two lengths. I used Light Pink from Really Reasonable Ribbon and cut two lengths of 20 inches each. I twisted them together every so often and sewed along one edge with my sewing machine. If you don't sew, you could use liquid or hot glue.
Step 2: Start rolling up your flower from one end, adding dots of hot glue every so often.
Step 3: Tuck the end underneath and glue to the bottom. You will have a little rosette!
I wanted more of an open flower, so I spread out all of the "petals."
Step 4: I cut a small circle of matching felt and hot glued it to the bottom of the flower.
Step 5: Using a coordinating color of felt, I cut two leaves and glued those to the circle. I attached the flower to my card using Scor-Tape. And voila!
I added a row of the same ric rac along the bottom and added a flower button and some string. My sentiment is by Technique Tuesday and the designer paper is from the Everyday Eclectic Collection by Echo Park. There are a lot of beautiful ric rac colors in the RRR Store HERE. At a cost of about 30 cents for this flower (as opposed to much more pre-made in stores) you can make a whole garden full!

You could add a clip and make this a hair accessory, or attach it to a headband too!
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you will give this a try!

And on a fun note, this card won Third Place at Polka Doodles!

Another Folded Tree and a Holiday Recipe!

I loved the little Folded Christmas Tree that we did for last week's Technique Challenge so much that I decided to do one for a fall design too! You can see how to make the tree here. It's so fast and easy!

My images are from owls2love by The {Stamps} of Life with Stephanie Barnard. I stamped my images using Stephanie's Premium Ink in Licorice and then fussy cut the owl. I think he looks cute in his folded tree and thought this would make a fun Thanksgiving "thank you."

Have a great week! I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and stamping with my mom! Here is a little recipe I like to share around this time - fast and easy and elegant!

Cranberry-Pineapple Minis

INGREDIENTS
1 can (20 oz.) crushed pineapple, in juice
2 pkg. (3 oz. each) raspberry flavor gelatin
1 can (16 oz.) whole berry cranberry sauce
2/3 cup walnut pieces (optional)
1 apple, chopped

Drain pineapple, reserving juice. Add enough water to juice to measure 2-1/2 cups; pour into saucepan. Bring to boil. Pour over gelatin mixes in large bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved.
Stir in pineapple, cranberry sauce, nuts and apple. Spoon into 24 paper-lined 2-1/2-inch muffin cups. Refrigerate 2-1/2 hours or until firm. Remove liners.

Holiday Blitz: Folded Christmas Trees

I love the Holiday Blitz Tutorials that are being shared each day in the Resources section at Splitcoaststampers. There are SO many fun ones that we will probably be doing a lot of them in my Technique Challenges up to the holidays! Every other Monday I host the Technique Lover's Challenge at SCS and today I chose FOLDED CHRISTMAS TREE.

The challenge is so much fun -- it looked so hard when I saw Beate's sample and even when I glanced at her amazing tutorial , but it is SO EASY! You have to try these. It took like two minutes to make the tree.

I used papers from Echo Park to make my tree and cut the circle with my circle cutter (about 5.5").  I scored each section with my Scor-Buddy. The layers are held together using i {stick} papers red-line tape. I added Kaiser Pearls along the bottom of the trunk and at each design change. The sentiment is from Flourishes' Cowboy Christmas, available at i {heart} papers.

I hope you will try these fun trees. Come play along in the challenge today!
i {heart} papers is celebrating Black Friday every Friday in November with a sale each Friday-Sunday in November, with the culmination on Black Friday-Cyber Monday. Stay tuned each week!

Stamps: Cowboy Christmas by Flourishes (available at i {heart} papers)
Paper: Winter Park DP by Echo Park, Naturals White, Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy
Ink: Cherry Cobbler

It's a Birthday Celebration~!

Today I am sharing a winter creation using Snow Friends from Whimsie Doodles. I think these two snowmen are the cutest! We don't have any snow where I live yet (thankfully!), but I know lots of people have gotten it already~! I am sending lots of prayers and hugs to all my Northeast friends.

I printed my images on Georgia Pacific White cardstock and then colored in using Copic markers.
I added some Crystal Stickles to the stars and also to make a little snow. The lace is from Really Reasonable Ribbon: Pink Crochet Lace. I added some sparkly ric rac for added shimmer. The inside shows the sentiment that comes with the set:
My designer paper is by My Mind's Eye from the Merry Little Christmas 6x6 Collection.

Today I am celebrating the birth of my amazing and wonderful son, Steven. Twenty-four years ago today he came into this world, and it has been a joy every day. Not just saying that. Really mean it!

The first photo was when he was 3 months old -- ready to go to his first photo shoot. :)
The second is at his wedding two years ago (he just celebrated his anniversary three days ago!)
And while he is on a beach in Mexico this week, celebrating with his lovely wife, I will be celebrating with James Bond. Yep. Skyfall. Today. Next best thing. ;)

Always Love You

Today's creation incorporates three Splitcoast challenge! The Technique Challenge was to use layered scallops. The CAS Challenge had a Pinterest inspiration photo, and Lydia's HYCCT Challenge was to be inspired by A Walk in the Woods.
I used the adorable Autumn Owls die and stamp set by The Stamps of Life with Stephanie Barnard. I LOVE how there are dies for each stamp in the set!
I love scallops and since my owl has them on his tummy, he came to mind when I saw Joan's fun Technique challenge. I layered two different patterns from my designer paper choices - both chosen using the Pinterest photo provided in the CAS Challenge.
Lydia's HYCCT1231 Challenge: A Walk in the Woods, was to inspire us with something from nature. We have lots of turkeys in our neighborhood, but I have to travel a little to see an owl. :)

If you have not yet tried Stephanie's Premium Inks, I URGE you to get some ASAP. As she tells in her video, there is a smooth stamping surface on the ink, so what you get is a clean, solid image, rather than the pattern on the ink pad (linen, or criss cross or whatever). I absolutely LOVE these inks - and had no idea there was such a difference from what I had been using. I LOVE them!

Thanks for taking a peek!

On a fun note, my S'Mores project won Top Five at Cupcake Inspirations~!
