Beautiful Fonts Anyone?

Good morning!
What catches your eye in a sentiment? For me, it's the font. I love interesting, quirky, and beautiful fonts that enhance what the sentiment is saying. While I love a regular, classic typewriter font, I am also drawn to beautiful scripts and different fonts within one sentiment. Individual words can create fun looks when combined.

In today's card, I combined two sets from Whimsy Stamps: You Are and You're My Favorite.
I like how the script of wonderful, different than the first two words, seems to emphasize the meaning of "wonderful" even more, because it's a contrast!

My background was made with the Distress Inks. I used a strip of vellum in the middle to give a base for the sparkly ric rac and flowers, but I didn't want to cover up the background! I think it works well!
Stay tuned for next week's fabulous August release!

Birthday Celebrations!

One of the July releases at Whimsy Stamps is this fun Fireworks Stencil. While "fireworks" brings thoughts of July 4, I think it's a perfect design for a birthday card!
It was my birthday a few days ago, and my favorite color is pink, so that's where the idea for this card came from! I love to send shaker cards too, because everyone loves all the fun movement from the contents!

I used Picked Raspberry Distress Ink for my stencil ink color, and sponged it with my Mini Ink Blending Tool. I added a little bit of Star Dust Stickles on the fireworks, and when that was dry, I stamped "Celebrate" (Magical Birthday Wishes) with VersaFine Onyx Black ink.

My frame is cut with the largest die from Handstitched Nested Rectangles. I am a former school teacher, and have lots of "transparency sheets" left over from before the SmartBoard days! So I used that for my acetate cover. I added sequins, glitter and beads for my shaker elements. Some of the glitter has a slightly "furry" look, which I think is fun.

Happy Birthday to any other July babies out there!

Shaking A Mermaid Town

I was very late to jump on the shaker card bandwagon. In fact, it was only a couple of years ago that I made my first shaker card. Since then, I have enjoyed making many others, including this cute one using stamps from the Whimsy Stamps July release!

My images are from Salty Hair. I made my background using Wilted Violet and Broken China Distress Oxide Inks, and then stamped my images using VersaFine Onyx Black.

My frame is made with the Handstitched Nested Rectangles. I added some gems, sequins and a bit of fun glitter for the shaker elements.
I added some Stardust Stickles to the starfish on the frame.

Joining the Whimsy Stamps Design Team!

I am thrilled to announce that I am joining the Whimsy Stamps Design Team as of July 1st! Super exciting news. I love the wide range of style in their images, and they carry a lot of "necessary" :) supplies too! I am joining such a talented group of designers that I am quite humbled by being a part of the team! You can read all about it HERE.
The new July release has something for everyone! Take a peek HERE.

My card today features the Flower Puffs Background (an amazing 5 3/4 x 5 3/4!) and the Shaker Maker Pennant Dies. I made a two color background using Seedless Preserves and Wild Honey Distress Oxide Inks, and then embossed the Flower Puffs Background with VersaMark Ink and Black Embossing Powder.

I stamped my sentiment from the You Are stamp set, and then cut it out using the smallest Pennant Die. I cut it out five more times, and stacked only the border around the main little pennant, and then adhered it to my card using Wonder Tape. The inside is stamped with YOU from the You Are stamp set. I added a little bit of gold thread for accent to follow the line of the pennant.

Thanks for taking a peek! I am excited to share more of the July release with you over the next few weeks!
