Guest Designing with the Color Throwdown!

It's April 1st in the East and that means that I am honored and super excited to be guest designing with the Color Throwdown this month! This week Lori is our hostess and she has some beautiful colors for us to play with: pink, gray, green and kraft.

I chose the beautiful Wildflower Background from Taylored Expressions, and paired it with the Hello Word Die from Picket Fence Studios. I watercolored my flowers after stamping with VersaFine Clair Morning Mist. I cut the word die out of vellum and a pink watercolor panel. I added some Kaiser Chino pearls to the flower centers for my "kraft" color.

Now it's your turn to play along over at the Color Throwdown Challenge. Be sure to also visit with each of the CTD Design Team members and leave them some love:

Freshly Made Sketches #428

It's Wednesday, and that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! Today's hostess is Amy. I am thankful for this distraction and that I have this crafting hobby to take my mind off of the events of the world.

I always love a sketch with a circle. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to do a kind of spotlight with the new tulip set from Picket Fence Studios

I used my Blender Brushes and Mustard Seed DOX ink to create the spotlight circle, then stamped my tulips and sentiment from EARLY TULIP BOUQUET with Nocturne ink. I added a few purple rhinestones to match the mat cardstock and for a spring color combination.

The inside has some cute gingham and one of the sentiments from the set: "flowers are the earth providing a new perspective." I tore the end of one side for interest.

What do you think? Just for visiting and leaving a comment, you will be entered into my little giveaway! I have a Thank You stamp and Black Hybrid ink pad to give away randomly to a commenter!
You can see those products in the first two links below!

I hope you will join us with your take on the sketch this week! Our challenge is open until 3 PM EDT on Monday, March 30. Click on the links on the FMS blog by each photo to see what lovely things my teammates have created on their blogs!

Using Your Stencil as the Focal Point

Hello friends!
I am thankful for crafty friends all over the world, and for having this amazing hobby that I can work on during these days!

Today I am sharing one of the new stencils at Visible Image Stamps called RENAISSANCE. It is absolutely gorgeous. I love the detail and pattern. Because it's so pretty, I am making it the focal point of my card.

I used Shaded Lilac DOX ink and blended the ink to a fade out with a blender brush. I stamped the beautiful sentiment from the new Happy Birthday set in the corner with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink, and the rest of the sentiment inside. I added a quartet of purple rhinestones from my stash to the center.

Check out the entire Visible Image February Release HERE. You can find links to the products I used below. Thank you for stopping by!

Let's Decorate A Cake!

Cake decorating is such an amazing art. I am in awe of those of you that can pipe beautiful designs, and in awe of those TV shows where cakes are ridiculously not like a cake!

But -- I do love stamping and decorating cakes -- especially when it's so easy to do with LET'S DECORATE from Picket Fence Studios! I have two cards to share using this set. First up is pink - my favorite color.

I made my background of circles first, using Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink and a small 2 1/2" circle stencil from PFS. I stamped my cake and flower decor separately with VersaFine Clair Nocturne, colored with Copics, and then cut out using the coordinating dies. The sentiment is from CHEAT DAY, also from PFS. A few sequins from the same color family, and it was ready to go. I used Silver Metallic cardstock for my background for a party atmosphere. Links to the products are below.

The next card uses colors from the Color Throwdown! I used just the corners of the QUATREFOIL BOUQUET stencil with Abandoned Coral DOX and colored the cake and stand with Copics. Some patterned paper for an added layer, and this second card is a peachy beauty!

Cranes and a New Design Team!

I am happy to have joined the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team for this next year! Today I have the privilege of sharing my first project with you. The team is sharing birthday ideas this week, and showing how any Brutus Monroe stamp can be used for that occasion. So a fun little story with my card today.

As a new team member, we were sent a package chosen for us. It's fun how many of the team said their packages seemed picked just for them. And it's true! I live in Central Nebraska, and right now we are having our annual "Crane Season." My town is dubbed the Crane Capital of the World, because over a period of several weeks, over 600,000 Sandhill Cranes come through the area on their migratory paths north to Siberia and Canada. It's a sight to see - and hear! Just google "Sandhill Crane Migration Nebraska" and you will see an abundance of amazing videos and photos like these:

So - in my package was the stamp set called PAPER CRANES and I couldn't have been happier! Such a perfect set that I can use over and over for all sorts of occasions. I decided to make a CAS (Clean and Simple), monochrome design for my crane birthday greeting:

I chose a soft golden yellow for my main color. The images are stamped with Brutus Monroe RAVEN INK, and colored in with alcohol markers. I fussy cut one of the single larger cranes and popped him up. The sentiment is from ON YOUR SPECIAL DAY. I chose a dark gray for the card base. One of my favorite color combinations! The enamel dots added a brighter bit of embellishment for added interest.  VoilĂ !

Freshly Made Sketches #427

It's Wednesday, and that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! Today's hostess is Narelle!

I haven't had a chance to ink up this adorable set by MFT: Aussie Animals.  The set is already discontinued, I believe. But this little koala seemed perfect for the sketch this week.

I found some cute Doodlebug patterned paper that matched my idea, and created my bright card with Copic coloring and a few enamel dots for a color punch. Isn't he cute?

I hope you will join us with your take on the sketch this week! Our challenge is open until 3 PM EDT on Monday, March 23. Click on the links on the FMS blog by each photo to see what lovely things my teammates have created on their blogs!

March Picket Fence Studios Release Day!

It's an exciting day for Picket Fence Studios - it's Release Day! I adore this release and I know you will too. If you are an ocean lover, get ready to shop! There are so MANY amazing products in this release - new stencils, stamps, and coordinating dies, including new word dies!

Today I am sharing two new products on one sweet greeting: I MISS YOU Word Die and ON A SEAHORSE'S DREAM. I don't know why, but I have always been fascinated with seahorses. They are such mythical creatures to me. It is so interesting to watch them glide through the water and wrap their tails around the sea foliage!
So I am super excited to have lots of seahorses in this release!

I stamped in VersaMark ink on a watercolor background and then embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. The detail shows up so well! My card base is black cardstock, with a printed vellum overlay (SU!). The word die is cut from Gold Metallic cardstock, as is the mat for my seahorse panel. I tied a little starfish charm on with gold thread, and wrapped it around the card front.

I love how it turned out. What do you think?

It's a simply fabulous release, so head over to Picket Fence Studios to see it all! There is so MUCH MORE to check out! Shop {HERE}.

I will see you back tomorrow for more cardmaking ideas!

Freshly Made Sketches #426

It's Wednesday, and that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! Today's hostess is Karren with a fun classic sketch!

I wanted to make something comforting for my Coffee Card partner for the month of March, so this is what I am sending off across the country this month! It's a stamping group that loves making coffee cards, and we share them with a partner each month.

I used the Coffee Word Die from Picket Fence Studios, and a coordinating sentiment from Coffee in Hand (also PFS). I added a Prima flower in a lovely cappuccino color, and backed my card with Soft Suede cardstock (SU!). The patterned paper is also from Stampin' Up!

I hope you will join us with your take on the sketch this week! Our challenge is open until 3 PM EDT on Monday, March 16. Click on the links on the FMS blog by each photo to see what lovely things my teammates have created on their blogs!

Have You Tried Paper Glaze?

The new Paper Glaze at Picket Fence Studios is so much fun to work with! This is the Snowdrop White on red cardstock with the Always Word Die and Fancy Flourishes Stencil.

I taped my stencil down with Purple Tape, and then used a palette knife to apply the glaze. You have to work fairly quickly, as it dries quickly! Once completely dry, I adhered my word die (cut from Silver Metallic cardstock, and backed with red and gray cardstock) and some fun clear rhinestones for added shine! A super elegant valentine or anniversary card!
Be sure to check out all the colors of the Paper Glaze - they are lovely!
