Second Sunday in Advent

Today is the second Sunday in Advent. Today, among others, we sang "Angels We Have Heard On High". I love the refrain; I think most people that sing carols like that one a lot.

This afternoon I drove out to a big park just outside of town called Cottonmill. It has a lake and a swimming hole, which is full of people in the summer. Today it was so peaceful and quiet. The swimming hole has been drained until May, and the lake was just frozen. I sat in my car and listened to carols on the CD player. It was fun to watch across the lake and see a yellow lab running free of its leash while the owners tagged behind.

I drove up to the Nature Barn, which is closed for the season. It has a petting zoo in the summer. A lot of the animals live there year 'round, and there were many out in their pens. As I drove up, the donkey came over to the fence. He followed me as I walked around the pens looking at the swan sitting on a huge nest, the goats chewing on whatever they could, and the llama conversing with the Shetland pony. I could barely fit my hand through the chain link to pet his nose. I think he is pretty busy during the week -- cantatas and Nativity programs and so on tend to need him.... It was a peaceful moment I needed - - Why don't I venture out there more often?

I made this card when I got home.

I Would Love to See a Snowflake This Close

I would love to see a snowflake this close-up. I am sure there are so many intricate patterns in each one, but they melt before you can see them -- or else they don't melt and make one big glob of a drift! This beautiful snowflake is from a set by Close to My Heart (CTMH) called New Fallen Snow. It has six beautiful flakes that are each unique.

My sketch is from Sketches! by Tamara. Click here to see what the rest of the Design Team did. Today's SCS Ways To Use It Challenge is all about pearls! I love pearls - they have long been my favorite embellishment (when I have them!) and they are definitely my favorite jewelry.

The piercing is done with an Ornare Piercing Template. You can purchase this at Our Daily Bread Designs, and see many others, HERE. I love the look of the different designs. The metallic paper is Prism's Metallic Silver and is available here.
On a totally different note, if you are looking for a unique gift (for a grandparent or loved one far away - perhaps a soldier!), then check out My Canvas. It is the best site I have found for creativity and design in photo books!
