Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I am so excited for 2025 to really enjoy my crafting time! And what better way to start the year off than with a new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches! This one is from the very talented Cecile and here is mine!

I had a ton of fun making this. But it sure went in a different direction than I had planned. I ordered a new ink from the VersaFine Clair line (LOVE it!) called Arctic. Well. I was thinking it would be white. Like an arctic fox! Imagine my surprise when I opened it to stamp my snowflake (Winter Snowflake - Colorado Craft Company) and it was blue. I even stared at the ink for a couple of seconds thinking "that's a weird white." HA. But I went with it anyway and love how this mixed media card turned out (which it wouldn't have been in white!). I stamped the blue, and then added some white embossing powder, black and white paint splatters and a trio of icy blue gems. Sentiment by Picket Fence Studios.

My husband and I are enjoying (right) our first bouts of Covid to start the New Year, so it can only go up from here! Our challenge is open until Monday, January 6, at 3 PM EST. We hope that you will join us! Check out my amazing teamies' cards on the FMS Blog!

Our First Sketch of 2021 - Freshly Made Sketches #467

Hello everyone! It's our first sketch for 2021 at Freshly Made Sketches! Jen M is our hostess today and she has invited us to make slimline cards (to meet our resolution of slimming down in the new year haha!). I have chosen to make a Mini Slim. As with the larger sizes, the measurements vary, but my card is 6 x 3.5. I also like 6 x 3 minis, but for my design today wanted the wider measurement.

I am playing with Wishing You Happiness from Colorado Craft Company. My images are stamped on Bristol paper and loosely watercolored using Zig Clean Color markers. One of my real resolutions is to stop stressing out over making art and letting it just happen how it does and enjoy it.

I thought the plaid was cute with the printed clouds. This is going to my grandkids. I just got back from spending ten days with them at their home in North Carolina, where we also had fun at Kure Beach! I also met my four month old grandson for the first time!

I hope you will join our sketch challenge this week, and add your creations to our gallery!
This challenge will end at 3:00 EST time on Monday, January 11th. On Tuesday, we will announce the winner of this week's challenge who will be known as the "Queen or King of Clean". The team will choose other gallery favorites to be known as a "Perfect Princess or Prince". Be sure to stop at the Freshly Made Sketches blog, and click on the names of my teammates to see the beautiful cards they have created this week!
