A Sketch, A Tutorial, and My Favorite Flowers

It's Thursday and that means a new sketch
at The Deconstructed Sketch
Plus I have a tutorial to show you, which I have dubbed "Air Smash."
It is a take on the fun Spray and Smash Technique.
I used Sheena's Paint Fusion Poppies from Crafter's Companion
for my images and Tim Holtz Distress Reinkers in
Barn Door, Dried Marigold, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey.

My cardstock is High Gloss
I stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black ink and then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder, Not all of the inks were dry, so some of the inside of the flowers have raised clear powder on them. I liked how it gave the flowers some texture. Don't worry if it isn't totally dry! If you don't have canned air (I got mine at Office Max), try a straw!
Add any embellishments you like (Butterfly by The Paper Studio) and some pretty designer paper (Bo Bunny's Enchanted Collection) and you are all done! Here is the picture of Step 4 side-by-side:
I have another piece to save for later!

To play along, here’s the scoop on what you need to do:
1. Use the sketch up top to make a project, any kind you like using any image you like. Use the sketch to inspire your own creativity. Feel free to substitute shapes for what you have available and mount tags and circles to a card base if you’d prefer.
2. Post it somewhere on the internet (your blog, SCS, Flickr, etc). Use keyword DS136 if you post to an online gallery like Splitcoaststampers.
3. Link back here to Inlinkz at the bottom of the post HERE.
4. Be sure to stop back by net week to see if you are one of the featured projects!

Friends in My Heart

It's Thursday and that means a new sketch
Here is this week's sketch #128!

I love this sketch and will be using it a lot! Today I took a few liberties, and made the circle a chipboard heart, and the smaller circle my snowman. The banner turned into my ric ric "snow." For my card I chose Lawn Fawn's super cute Making Frosty Friends and coordinating dies - available at i {heart} papers!
I stamped my snowman on Ultrasmooth White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored in the nose and hat brim with a Spectrum Noir marker. This is like playing paper dolls -- all of the dies make it so easy! The hat and scarf were stamped right on the designer paper, and then I cut it all out with the coordinating dies.

I stamped the background on SU! Crumb Cake using the snowflake stamp and white pigment ink. My chipboard heart has been sitting on my desk for literally a year, waiting to be used! So I thought it would be cute with the sentiment! It was stamped with Versamark Strawberry pigment ink, and then embossed with a glittery red embossing powder. My snow is a glittery ric rac from my stash of oodles of ribbons and trims. I used Zva Dimensionals and 1/4" Scor-Tape to hold everything together.  My designer paper is Echo Park's So This Is Christmas 6x6. The total card is 5" square.

Deconstructed Sketch #126

It's Thursday and that means a new sketch
Here is this week's sketch #126!
Today I kept the basic layout, but changed some of the panel shapes. I used a circle instead of a rectangle, and added my tall savannah grass instead of the banner. I also kept the same designer paper in the background, rather than having two different types.
My images are from Lawn Fawn's Critters on the Savanna stamp set and matching dies. I stamped on Ultrasmooth White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored in with Spectrum Noir markers. I did the same for the sentiment, and then cut it out using Avery Elle's Oh Yeah caption balloon die. The grass is a Magnolia die cut. My button (Buttons Galore) is tied with Aqua Blue Divine Twine. My fun designer paper is from Echo Park's Bundle of Joy Boy 6x6.  Linked supplies available at i {heart} papers!

I'll Get You My Pretties

It's Thursday and that means a new sketch
Here is this week's sketch #125!
I turned the sketch on its side for my layout today.  I started designing my card around Graphic 45's Steampunk Spells 6x6 pad. From there I chose a K & Co. glittery witch and bat die cut that I have had in my stash forever, and then added the cute sentiment from Chicken Girl Design's Happy Halloween stamp set. All my layers are held together with 1/2" Scor-Tape and popped up with Zva Dimensionals. Lot of layers and lots of fun! Linked supplies are available at i {heart} papers!
I made this card in honor of my daughter, who played the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz three years ago when she was a senior in HS.
