Freshly Made Sketches #592

We have a new sketch today at Freshly Made Sketches! Our hostess today is the wildly talented Cécile! I love everything she makes, and this sketch has such great possibilities!

I looked through my stamp sets for what might work for the "sailboat" shapes. I had about five sets pulled but finally decided on the adorable Dog Days by Reverse Confetti. They may be retired, but RC is still one of my very favorite companies! This set has such cute doggies with it, but I chose just the palm trees. I ended up casing (almost exactly) this amazing card by Michelle from the Card Grotto. I loved her clouds so much. I added waves using a stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and cut my sentiment with a banner die from MFT Stamps.

It's time for a new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches! Beautiful Jen Timko is our hostess this week. Even though Reverse Confetti has closed, they will always remain one of my favorite companies and I will continue to use what adorable products I have! Today I am highlighting Love Bugs.

I love pink, so pink clouds were the choice for the background. I used a stencil from MFT and Spun Sugar DOX. The stitched cloud die is also from MFT. That cute bee is colored with Copics, and the sentiment is stamped with VersaFine Clair Nocturne. Sequins by Pretty Pink Posh.

Cards for Ukraine

Good morning!

I love the care that the card making community shows one another - both those we have met and those we have not. Our art brings us together with a common goal: sharing joy and kindness through creativity.

Today, the Stamping Village community is hosting a hop to bring joy to others and to help support the people of Ukraine. We are especially thinking of our sweet friend, Yana. Read all the details at each of the company stops - I know there are some amazing donations and opportunities to support! Three of us from the My Sweet Petunia team are sharing our creations for the team.

My card today combines products from several different companies. I chose the colors of the Ukraine flag and built from there. I use my MISTIs on every single project I make, whether it has a lot of stamping or not. Today it helped me line up the cover plate and background cardstock together to adhere, as well as stamp my sentiment cleanly on the vellum so I could emboss. 

You can see the products I used below. I want to keep this short and sweet so you can keep hopping before your coffee gets cold! SO many amazing donations and stamp sets with proceeds going to relief efforts. What an amazing community!

I love these fun sea creatures from Reverse Confetti! As usual, I have a little different take on the sketch, using my sea images to make the vertical panel piece, as well as keeping an A2 size, rather than square.

Freshly Made Sketches #518

It's Wednesday and time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! I have the pleasure of hosting this week, and have offered up a simple sketch with a lot of playing space. The circle can be any shape you like.

Isn't this little snail just amazing? He is part of the Love is in the Air set from Reverse Confetti. I colored him and his cute envelopes with Copic markers, and then cut him out with the coordinating die. I stenciled a circle of hearts (Create A Smile stamps) using Kitsch Flamingo DOX ink. I made a front panel with Along the Dotted Lines Cover Plate (RC), and cut a circle out to show the stencil and for my little snail to hang out in.  

The sentiment is from the same stamp set, stamped in VersaFine Clair Nocturne. Some rose metallic thread (SU!), a few sequins (Pretty Pink Posh) and he is all done!

Freshly Made Sketches #508

It's Wednesday, and that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! My lovely teammate Jacquie is the hostess today!

I usually make a lot of Halloween cards, but this year this card is the first, I think! And it's next week! I had gotten some new goodies from Reverse Confetti, and really wanted to use the Layered BOO Confetti Cuts die, and that is where I began creating. I also got the Large Detailed Circle Frame Confetti Cuts at the same time, and put the two together for a Halloween shaker card. While the circle gives the illusion of a different sketch, I do have some gorgeous purple glitter cardstock (DCWV) behind the main panel, which follows the sketch!

 

I used some fun sequin mixes from Picket Fence Studios, and added some purple seed beads (because I have sooo many!) for fun. The crazy eyed bats are from a border from K & Co. that I have had forever in my Halloween craft stash. I cut them apart and popped them up with foam tape. The sweet sentiment is from Halloween Sentiments (also RC).

Freshly Made Sketches #479

Hello everyone! It's Wednesday and that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! The incredibly creative Kim is our hostess this week!

This week I chose the beautiful Big Flower Cover Panel from Reverse Confetti for my card. I started with a blended Distress Oxide background using three different inks: Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, and Wilted Violet. I used a spritzed scrap for my stitched circle and little bird out of my unfinished projects box (I don't know whose die this is. Do you?). I added a little black gem for his eye. The sentiment is from My Heart Trusts, also Reverse Confetti, stamped with VersaFine Clair Nocturne. 

With the little bird, it reminds me of Matthew 10:30-31 "And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." A reminder that while I wish I were in control of all my circumstances, that there is someone who is, and in Him my heart trusts. And that's by far better than what I think I could do! Ha!

To keep with the sketch, I added three rows of blue metallic thread from Kreinik.

Freshly Made Sketches #478

Hello everyone! It's Wednesday and that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! Jen T is our hostess this week. Congratulations to now CAPTAIN Jen T, as she has completed her training and flies the skies with extra wings!

This week I chose some new goodies from Reverse Confetti for my card. I started with the new Along the Dotted Lines cover plate for my background. I love the subtle horizontal dots. Next I stamped the sentiment from Lily of the Valley in VersaFine Clair Nocturne, my favorite crisp black. I then stamped and colored the vase of sweet flowers, and colored with Copics, cutting out with the coordinating die.
I added some Authentique patterned paper at the bottom to follow the sketch, and decided it needed a little something. So from my stash, I pulled the tassel trim, and attached it between the two panels.

Ice Cream in January?? Yes, Please!

Happy Friday!

Today there is a new challenge up at Festive Friday! We're celebrating Ice Cream, and using our fabulous Inspo List #FF0075 to inspire us (below). If you are new to the FF Challenges, you can choose any three items (or more!) from our list to inspire your creativity. Your card does not have to be about eating ice cream for breakfast!

For my card today, I am using products from Reverse Confetti and Picket Fence Studios.  I started by choosing my items: Ice Cream, Pink, Brown, and Triangles. I love the Triangle Cover Plate (RC) and finally had a chance to use it! The stitching on it really stands out for great design and texture. Next, I colored my ice cream and cone (PFS) with Copics and added some sparkle with Crystal Stickles. The tag (RC) has a wonderful topper piece that also added texture to the design. Finally, the SSS Sentiment finishes the greeting, and a few clear sequins were the final embellishments.

Freshly Made Sketches #464

Hello everyone! It's Wednesday, and my pleasure to be the sketch hostess at Freshly Made Sketches this week!

Last week I had so many layers (which I love), that this week decided to keep it pretty CAS. I pulled out an adorable holiday set from Reverse Confetti (currently out of stock - sorry!): Holiday Gnomes.

I started by giving my little CAS scene some depth with a stencil from Taylored Expressions. I didn't even have to ink up my blue blender brush; I just wanted a very subtle color. I had enough ink already on my brush and it turned out just how I envisioned.

Next I stamped and colored my gnome, using Hero Arts Black and Copic markers. I added a lot of Nuvo Shimmer pen to his hat and star, and it is so sparkly! The house is stamped on patterned paper from Amy Tangerine. I layered all of this on a green panel and white cardstock base. A little die cut cloud (Whimsy Stamps), a banner sentiment, and it's all done!

Freshly Made Sketches #430 Meets Color Throwdown #588

I am guest designing with the Color Throwdown this month! This week Lynn is our hostess and she has some bright and bold colors for us to play with: orange, green, pink and yellow. What a fabulous combination!

It's also Wednesday, and that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches! Jacquie is our hostess this week. While her sketch shows a diamond shape, she says "If you have a forgotten shape die in your collection, I'd love to see it get used this week!"

So I went with this fun Stitched Hex Tag from Reverse Confetti.
I paired it with that adorable crafty zebra from Crafty Critters. I did a watercolor background with Twisted Citron DOX on the tag, and then colored in the images with Copics. 

You can see all the colors in the little paintbrush holder!

I added some fun patterned papers from the Cheerful and Kind 6x6 Paper Pad, and a sentiment from the Crafty Critters set. So cute to share with a stamping friend! I added some pink and white baker's twine at the top of the tag, and a few enamel dots for embellishments. My card base is my favorite Melon Mambo pink!

One thing that my daughter and I did this past week for a fun quarantine activity was to design a floral bouquet. You could have the flowers delivered or picked up curbside, and then you watched a video from the florist (our sweet friend, Todd!) to help you design. They came wrapped in a bunch, and then you cut and arranged how you wished. It occurred to me that they are a perfect complement to the colors for this week. This is my finished bouquet, and it was a blast creating it! Something new for me during these crazy times (and a real stress reliever - just like cardmaking!).

Today I am sharing a fun coffee card. So maybe you can guess this month's color:

I started with Taylored Expressions' cute Feathered Stencil and Vintage Photo DOX ink. The copper paper is a gift from my sister and looks great in the Reverse Confetti word die. The sweet little cups are brand new to me (also TE), with some gorgeous watercolor patterned paper in browns behind them. The little stickers match the stencil so perfectly. Those are from "the stash."

Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

It's definitely coffee time, as we close November and head to December. I just got back from the grocery store, where you would have thought it was the end of the world. No eggs. No SALAD or LETTUCE. Never saw that before. The forecast is 4-9 inches on top of freezing rain through Sunday. So it's time for COFFEE and lots of it!

Today I am sharing an image from Picket Fence Studios called Need More Caffeine. LOTS of coffee to get through this first December weekend!

I stamped the image on Kraft with VersaMark ink. Isn't it fun? I added some coppery-blue sparkly thread around the middle and then adhered it to my base of Ivory. The copper colored die is from Reverse Confetti, and the little corner sentiment is from Picket Fence Studios' Coffee Understands.

I stamped the sentiment with VersaFine Sepia. I love the CAS look! Stay warm and cozy!

It's all true -- the MISTI changed my stamping life! You have heard the stories, and I can attest to the truthfulness of mine! Esepcially when it comes to textured paper, like some watercolor brands with tooth, as in my first sample.

I made my background using the Wrinkle Free Distress technique. When it was dry, I used my Original MISTI, and lined up my stamp where I wanted on the watercolor panel. I closed the lid, and slightly readjusted, according to the grid lines.

For my first project, I used a sentiment from My Heart Trusts. I love the font! I inked it up, and then restamped, because of the paper's texture. Two times stamping, and it came out perfectly!

I also wanted to use the Squared Off Cover Panel Confetti Cuts for interest, to show some of the other cardstock color. I added some lace, a paper doily, and paper flower for embellishments. 

My second card is made with the adorable No Tomorrow dinosaur stamp set and matching Confetti Cuts. I adore these little guys; they have such personality! For this card, I wanted to also use the Hello Square Confetti Cuts and make a shaker card. 

I stamped one of the leaves on my background paper from the Cheerful & Kind 6x6 Paper Pad, and colored it in with a Prismacolor Pencil. I added a little Wink of Stella for some sparkle.

I stamped my dino and grass all at once using my Mini MISTI. I like the look of embossing, so used clear embossing powder for all three images. I then added the other elements after coloring (Copics), and cutting them out with the Confetti Cuts. I even added some dew drops that were one of my first purchases years ago!
