All Wired Up!
For today's SCS Ways To Use It Challenge, we were challenged to use wire on our cards. After being gone to Ireland for the last two weeks, I am trying to get some stamping mojo going. It's tough when you have been away from it! I looked all over my stamp room for any wire -- and finally remembered (doh) that I make jewelry...(jet lag issues and being blonde don't help). So I used some beads and jewelry wire on my card. It's kind of odd, but I am hoping by the weekend, I will have my mojo back!
The piercing is done with an Ornare template four times to make a square.
My post title, "All Wired Up" has a little bit to do with the wire on my card, and everything to do with Nebraska weather! My husband and I were up from about 11:30 last night until 1:30 this morning. We had an incredibly giant thunderstorm with 2 inches of rain, 55 mph winds, and tornado cells within 50 miles in every direction. I looked outside across the street and all my nieghbors must have been up too, as everyone's lights were on (some in the basements!) at midnight. I think everyone is a little jumpy - or wired - around here! It was a loud storm -- my beagle ended up under the bed again - but about 1:00 things started settling down - just in time to get up again at 2:15 to get my daughter to her high school to catch a bus to take her band to the airport! They are flying to Disneyland for 4 days -- she is going to be quite the traveler this summer!
Here is a picture of the storm that produced the tornado last Thursday - taken a couple miles east of my town:
It is a fantastic picture --- a storm chaser named Ryan McGinnis took it and it is circulating around town, of course! (Edited later: it is on the front page of our paper tonight!) It certainly shows the power and strength of wind and rain. After watching some home videos on youtube, I can honestly say that I am glad I was in Ireland then. It's freaky enough seeing and hearing it on the internet!
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope the weather in your part of the country doesn't have you all wired up!

OMG! What a picture! Unreal! Love the card. Great idea adding beads to a card. Love it.
ReplyDeleteLove the piercing on that card...and the beautiful colors.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, the storm photo is awesome! We're supposed to be getting more extreme weather tomorrow in MN - I hope neither one of us is in for another sleepless night.
Great card! Hope you've caught up on rest to become un-wired that way...jet lag and all.
ReplyDeleteCrazy storm pic- quite frightening, even on the computer. I feel like Dorothy.
YIKES!
ReplyDeleteOMgosh, that picture is unreal!! I can't believe how HUGE that is!! I love your card though, it is gorgeous!! Welcome back!!

ReplyDeleteThat pic of the storm is amazing! Glad it didn't hit you!
Wow...great card, I want to pierce more of my cards, love the way it looks on your card.
ReplyDeleteThat card is fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteOH MY WORD.....your photo made me speechless~!!!!!!!!! Incredible. I love your card....especially with the beads. I may copy tht since I have so many beads left over from my jewelry making days....my hands now go dead when I hold a needle. Joan
ReplyDeleteJudy a beautiful card! I certainly enjoy images like it more than ones like the tornado. That picture is an amazing one, but one that certainly doesn't make me smile like your card does. We had terrible storms with tornadoes and rain that was so thick you couldn't see through it yesterday. Fortunately today was much nicer.
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards where you've done the piercing. Just awesome.
ReplyDeleteWow, that storm cloud was amazing!
GORGEOUS card Judy!! I LOVE that piercing template.. gotta get one of those!! So glad that you and your family are safe...
ReplyDeleteBuckle up, it looks like another wild night.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the weather. I live near the Twin Cities, MN. Last day of school, Friday, the kids have outdoor activities planned.
How was your daughters plane trip?
What a neat card Judy. As for the photo, it's really awesome but I wouldn't have wanted to be there. We had storms yesterday too and they always scare me.
ReplyDeleteWoW Judy! That piercing is so beautiful! I'll have to case that! Hugs, Michelle
ReplyDeleteWow, I love how you did the wire challenge. Such a beautiful card! Whew, what a storm!
