Freshly Made Sketches #496

Happy Wednesday! It's time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. It is my pleasure to be hosting this week!

I decided on a layout that can work two ways -- highlight the background squares and rectangles and make that your focus, or use it merely as a background for a beautiful foreground. I decided to use some gorgeous paper from Craft Consortium as my focus, and add a fun sentiment.

The sentiment dies are from the Bitty Buzzwords Honey Cuts set from Honey Bee Stamps. I used Hammermill White as my base, and the lovely Silver Ice cardstock (CutCardStock) for the words and my leaf (PFS). A fast and easy card, but don't you love that paper? I kind of have a thing for patterned paper, and this sketch was perfect to show it off.

I hope you will join our sketch challenge this week, and add your creations to our gallery! This challenge will end at 3:00 EDT time on Monday, August 2.

Festive Friday #89

Today there is a new challenge up at Festive FridayIf you are new to the FF Challenges, you can choose any three items (or more!) from our list to inspire your creativity. For my card this week, I chose blue, twine/thread, metallic, ink blending.

I used distress oxides for the blended background and added some water spots for interest. The dies are from Concord and 9th. I added some metallic cording for one of the balloons and a few sequins for fun.

I hope you will join us for this challenge and link up on the Festive Friday blog. Remember, you can choose any three from the list below, for any occasion or theme!

Freshly Made Sketches #494

Happy Wednesday! It's time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. Narelle is our hostess for this week. She is our flower queen!

When I saw the tall panel on this sketch, I immediately thought it would be perfect for a giraffe! I hadn't used the Picture Book Giraffe Die from SSS yet (and now it's retired - that's my typical speed!), and it was perfect. I chose a fun pink dotted patterned paper from Echo Park (Easter Wishes) for my background. I cut a long rectangle with a Spellbinders Die, and then cut out my little giraffe. I added black gem eyes and a trio of clear gems (PFS) for some fun bling. The sentiment is from one of my FAVORITE sentiment sets -- Big Words from WOW Embossing!

I think it's cute enough to send to several people so I may have to make multiples (Horrors! I don't like making multiples!! HA)!

I hope you will join our sketch challenge this week, and add your creations to our gallery! This challenge will end at 3:00 EDT time on Monday, July 19.

Happy Birthday, America!

Happy Independence Day!

Today I am sharing some beautiful dies from Spellbinders Paper Arts:  Birthday Wishes Vignette Etched Dies from Beautiful Sentiment Vignettes Collection by Becca Feeken.

I started with navy cardstock for the die base and then die cut and made the layers with white cardstock. I popped up the Birthday Wishes sentiment with foam tape. I have such a lovely collection of paper roses, and was happy to use two of the colors on this card - Earth Tone and Mixed Pink (Really Reasonable Ribbon). Not quite red, white, and blue traditional, but close!

I used a patterned paper from my stash for the card base background with a Sahara Sand base. I love the elegance of the dies! You can find the rest of the collection HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today!
