I have a confession to make. I am not a "butterfly" person. I know they are all the rage. I resisted. I think I have been adverse to using them because they are everywhere - die cuts, stamps, punches, stickers.....kinda overkill.
And then I saw the sweet sentiments with Rubbernecker's Butterflies Are Free set. So I had butterfly stamps. And then I saw the color challenge at Our Creative Corner. So I started with my border punch, added the pearls, stamped the flourish.......and then needed butterflies. They were fun to color. They were even fun to cut out and I detest cutting anything out! But - I decided, I might possibly be........ a butterfly person. :)
We have a cool Butterfly Pavilion at our zoo. It's a free fly zone and you have to be carefully checked when you leave to make sure there aren't any butterflies hitchhiking! It's fun to watch all sorts and all sizes fly, land, drink, eat fruit and see cocoons. You don't see too many cocoons on cards now, do you?
I stamped my flourish on the Soft Suede CS with VersaMark ink - I love how it looks. The butterfly bodies have Diamond Stickles on them. They were colored with Copic markers. The sentiment says "Gentle as a butterfly your kindness speaks to me." Isn't that sweet? It is stamped with Baja Breeze ink.
You will have to click on the photo to see the Rich Razzleberry cardstock behind the stamped panel! It's there though! Baja Breeze, Soft Suede, Regal Rose and Rich Razzleberry. I like it. I like my butterflies.
Today I am remembering my dad. He passed away in December 2009. Today would have been his 81st birthday. I made a chocolate cake and am taking it, and a pork roast dinner (which my dad loved) over to my mom's house today. She recently had a shoulder replacement and is a little laid up right now, but I know she will love the cake. Joy #21 is remembering my wonderful dad. Happy Birthday, Dad. I love you.
I have also entered this card in these challenges:
Our Creative Corner - color challenge
Stampin B's - friendship sentiment
CCEE - some pink
